Senior Accountant

Location: Airport Executive Park, Richmond, BC

Type of employment: Full-time

Department: Reports to Controller

Compensation: $80k-$90k

We are seeking an experienced full-time Senior Accountant to join our
accounting and finance team, providing support for our real estate development
business and our recycling and waste management business.


Our Company
Montrose Properties, based in Richmond, BC, is a privately-held Canadian business that is developing 3 million square feet of industrial warehouses. The company was formed in 2015 with a mandate to leverage its expertise and deep relationships to build and own high-quality, long-term, sustainable real estate. Our award-winning Richmond Industrial Centre is a brownfield rehabilitation development that converted a portion of a landfill into an industrial warehouse park, serving the global supply chain that is critical to the local and national economy.

Our subsidiary, Ecowaste Industries Ltd., has over 50 years of experience in serving Metro Vancouver through its waste management services. We currently operate a 60-hectare recycling campus and landfill in south Richmond for the repurposing and disposal of construction, demolition and excavation materials. We also recycle wood, concrete and other construction materials for secondary uses such as road surfacing and low carbon fuels for manufacturers and district energy producers.

Role Responsibilities

The is a new role that will report to the Controller. As a Senior Accountant, you
will play a key role in our financial operations.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Assist with month-end closing, including the preparation of journal entries,
    working papers, and account reconciliations
  • Conduct financial analysis and preparation of financial statements and
    reports
  • Assist with the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts
  • Conduct bank, sales tickets, and sales tax reconciliations
  • Generate customer invoices and credit notes
  • Provide relief support for customer inquiries, accounts payable and payroll
    during staff absences
  • Perform related additional tasks or projects as needed


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or CPA designation required
  • Minimum 4 years of progressive experience in full cycle accounting
  • Experience with SAP Business One preferred
  • Strong knowledge of ASPE, financial reporting and internal controls
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving
    skills
  • A team player with professional written & verbal communication skills and
    interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 including advanced Excel skills is
    required
  • Ability to take direction but act with initiative and self-motivation to meet
    deadlines and responsibilities
  • Pro-active with strong aptitude to learn about the two businesses


Pay and Benefits

  • Salary range of $80,000 to $90,000
